November 2019

Dear Community Members,

Students in the Groton-Dunstable Regional School District (GDRSD) are thriving and innovating each day. They leave school with smiles on their faces, gears turning in their heads, and a hunger for learning. They have access to teachers, materials, and experiences that make learning adventurous and meaningful. However, the depth and breadth of our students’ experiences are not fully provided by the school budget.

The Groton Dunstable Education Foundation (GDEF) is proud to supplement the GDRSD budget through grants to the five schools across grade levels and disciplines. The grants we make support purposeful learning practices, initiatives, equipment, training, and materials that allow our students to thrive.

In the 2018 - 2019 school year, GDEF awarded 29 grants totaling nearly $40,000.These grants included 25 new iPads and seven Apple pencils for the Middle School Visual Arts and Communications Arts Programs; a 20 by 26 foot National Geographic map for a high-energy, kinesthetic, hands-on learning experience at Swallow Union; a science workshop focused on shadows and light at Boutwell; and classroom-set novels for high school English classrooms. GDEF also continued a two-year, district-wide initiative — which was funded by a $50,000 donation from Middlesex Savings Bank— in teacher training strategies to create classroom communities that foster collaboration, community, and social- emotional learning through Responsive Classroom®.

These grants reach our students in their classrooms every day, and are made possible by the generosity of our community. Please make a donation to help provide innovative and inspiring programs and opportunities.

Our community, our schools, and our students are worth it!

We thank you for your contribution,
