in Teaching and Learning to Our District Schools!

Florence Roche Elementary Garden
(All grades):
Volunteers, students and staff, in coordination with Groton Local, are creating gardens that will be used by teachers and students to enhance the curriculum across multiple disciplines – science, food & nutrition, math, language arts, history, social studies and art.

Interactive Whiteboards
Swallow Union & Florence Roche –
(All grades):
SMART board interactive whiteboards allow teachers added flexibility in the classroom by embedding multi-media into existing lesson plans, actively engaging students and leading to greater student success.

“A World of Stories”
Swallow Union (Grades 3-4):

A professional storyteller presented fun and imaginative stories to further cultivate students’ love of reading and encourage independent reading.

Engineering is Elementary,
Marvelous Machines - Florence Roche
& Swallow Union, 4th grade

Through lessons integrating science, design
and technology, fourth graders gained a
deeper understanding of engineering
concepts and created their own simple machines. The grant funded curriculum materials for this innovative Boston Museum
of Science program.

Music and Poetry Collaborative
Florence Roche and Swallow Union,
(3rd Grade)

Workshops engaged students in the creation of poetry through musical expression.

Swallow Union Science Lab
Funded materials for a living, working science lab where students create and execute “care plans” for plants and animals.
