 AND
MUSIC, TOO!
Come Listen All!
On Saturday, April 30th,
lucky ticket holders for GDEF's
Dinner, Drama & Dessert events
were privileged to hear the premiere of
Come Listen All!
a piece written especially
for the GDRHS Band and Chorus
and performed in commemoration of Groton's 350th birthday
by the GDRHS Band
and Chorus
conducted by Paul Berler.
Composed by Sean O'Loughlin,
Come Listen All! was inspired by the poem
Song of Myself
by Walt Whitman.
The piece was commissioned by
the
Groton Dunstable High School Music Department
and funded by a grant from GDEF.
Through this GDEF grant,
students learned about the composition process,
and furthered their interpretive and performance skills
through the opportunity to work with Mr. O'Loughlin
on the performance of the piece as he envisions it.
The concert was held in
the gymnasium
at the Groton Dunstable Regional High School
beginning at 7:00pm.
