The Foundation welcomes Vice President Bobbie Lamont, Secretary Kerri Figueroa, and Treasurer Lorrie Morgan to the Board. Director of Communications Kim Flanagan will be moving to work with Karen Riggert as Co-Director of Grant Disbursement, with Laurie Moskow assuming Ms. Flanagan's duties in addition to her role as Director of Marketing. The 2005-2006 GDEF Board:
The Board extends its heartfelt thanks to outgoing Directors Sharon Schmidt, Tessa David and Connie Lapres for their efforts as founders of the Groton Dunstable Education Foundation and for their service. All three plan to remain involved in the Foundation's activities. Says outgoing Treasurer Lapres, "I am very proud to have been a part of making such a wonderful addition to our community a reality. With the overwhelmingly positive response we've had from the residents of Groton and Dunstable, I know the Foundation's efforts will continue to enhance our schools and our towns for many years to come." GDEF invites residents to meet its new Directors at Grotonfest on Saturday, September 17th. Stop by booth #132 for information on the Foundation, its activities for the coming year, and its exciting grant program. GDEF will also be selling refreshing, delicious Smoothies, generously donated by Stonyfield Farm of Londonderry, NH, and bottled water. All proceeds will fund the fall 2005 grant cycle. GDEF is now accepting applications for the fall cycle, with applications due by November 1, 2005. Grants will be awarded the week of December 12, 2005. To date, GDEF has funded forty-nine grants totaling more than $86,000. Grants have been implemented in every school in the District and have covered a broad range of disciplines, impacting every schoolchild in Groton and Dunstable.
