Media Release The Groton Dunstable Education Foundation's Grant Program Receives Strong Response from Schools and Community The most recent GDEF grant cycle closed on November 1, 2004. GDEF Grants Co-Director Kate McNierney reports that 18 applications totaling more than $45,000 have been received. For this third disbursement cycle, GDEF has earmarked up to $20,000 for grants that meet Foundation goals. The Foundation is heartened by the strong show of interest and creativity from School District faculty and staff as well as Groton and Dunstable residents. Board member Kimberly Flanagan remarked that “this level of interest underscores the need for supplemental funds to enhance our publicly funded schools”" adding that it “encourages the Foundation to maintain its fundraising work so that future grants can be funded to benefit students in the District.” The GDEF Grants Disbursement Committee will evaluate all applications and recommend individual proposals for funding to the full Board of Directors, who will make the final decision about which grants to fund. The Grants Disbursement Committee includes Groton and Dunstable residents with diverse backgrounds and varied areas of interest and expertise as well as a GDRSD administration representative. Applicants will be notified the week of December 6, 2004 on the status of their grant application and an announcement will be made to the public at the GDRSD School Committee meeting on December 15, 2004.
