Groton Dunstable Education Foundation Announces Community Business Partnership

GDEF Director of Fundraising, Sharon Schmidt, has launched the Foundation’s “Community Business Partners for Education Program."  The goal of this program is two-fold: to encourage Groton and Dunstable residents to support public education in our towns through their support of local businesses (as well as businesses in other towns owned by residents of Groton and Dunstable) and to in turn have these businesses contribute a portion of the sales proceeds generated by these local residents to the Groton Dunstable Education Foundation for use in enhancing the success of our public schools.

Jos. Kilbridge Antiques, already a strong supporter of the Ed Foundation, has become the first area business to sign on to this program and has agreed to donate 5% of all sales under this program to the GDEF.   This will be announced on Friday, November 21st, at the reception Jos. Kilbridge Antiques is hosting to thank all the GDEF volunteers for their hard work which culminated in the October 10th  Antique Preview Party and Auction benefiting the GDEF. Cathie diGrazia, Director of Kilbridge says, “Honoring the wonderful volunteers who helped to make the October 10th gala a special night to remember is our way of thanking them for all their time, effort and energy.  Joining the GDEF Community Business Partnership allows us to contribute to the communities of Groton and Dunstable by supporting their publicly funded schools.  It is our pleasure and responsibility as a member of this community to do so and we would encourage other area businesses to do the same.”

The Foundation is hoping residents will embrace this wonderful opportunity to support our schools by patronizing participating businesses during the upcoming holiday season and throughout the year.  All a buyer needs to do is print out the GDEF Business Partner Program Certificate available at www.gdefinc.org and present it to participating GDEF business partners at the time of their transaction in order for the Ed Foundation to receive the donation.  The Ed Foundation is in the process of contacting business owners for participation in the program and already the following business partners have signed on to participate in supporting the GDEF’s mission: Belle Feuille Floral Design, Currier & Chives Catering, EXIT Assurance Realty , Generous Heart, NOA Gallery, and Stonehedge Inn.

If you are a business owner in Groton or Dunstable, or you are a resident of Groton or Dunstable who owns a business elsewhere, and you are interested in participating in the Community Business Partners for Education Program and you have not been contacted yet (or you have questions about the program), please contact Sharon Schmidt at (978) 649-6843 or via e-mail at sschmidt@gdefinc.org.  For more details visit the GDEF website at www.gdefinc.org.
