The Groton Dunstable Education Foundation Launches Annual Giving Campaign

The Groton Dunstable Education Foundation would like to thank the communities of Groton and Dunstable for their support in the past, and to request their continued support as GDEF launches its first Annual Giving Campaign.

Thanks to many generous contributors, GDEF has been able to fund over $86,000 in grants in just two years. GDEF grants have reached every school, every grade and every student, providing innovative programs, cutting-edge technologies, and professional development opportunities.

GDEF’s most recent grant cycle closed on November 1st, and for this fifth disbursement cycle GDEF Grants Co-Director Kim Flanagan reports that nineteen applications totaling more than $34,000 have been received, with grant awards to be announced the week of December 5th.  Flanagan remarked, “Each cycle, we continue to receive many worthy proposals for consideration.  While we wish we were able to fund them all, we are currently only able to earmark $20,000 for this cycle.”

With this continued need in mind, the Foundation is now embarking on its first Annual Giving Campaign (AGC).  The money raised through this Campaign will support the Spring and Fall 2006 grant cycles, enabling GDEF to provide more exciting and inspiring programs for our children now and in the future.

Contributions to the Campaign may be made in any amount – every donation, large or small, helps GDEF’s mission to enhance the education of children in our public schools.  Look for the Annual Giving Campaign star on the homepage of the Foundation’s website at www.gdefinc.org to give on-line by credit card.  Donors wishing to give by check can also visit the website to print out a form for mailing their donations.  Says Kate McNierney, director of the Annual Giving Campaign, “If every family in our communities were to make a donation of $100, we could raise $100,000, making it possible for us to fund more grants than ever!”

Previous contributors to GDEF will be receiving information about the Campaign and previously funded grants in the mail in the near future.
