Media Release Groton Dunstable Education Foundation Announces Teaching Stars Program We are lucky in the communities of Groton and Dunstable to have many outstanding teachers and educators who teach our children every day, in many ways. Not just teachers, but administrators, coaches, support staff, specialists, nurses, volunteers and more – all of these people help contribute to the development of our children as students and as human beings. Unfortunately, it’s sometimes difficult to determine an appropriate way to give recognition to these important people in our children’s lives. The GDEF is pleased to announce the launch of our “Teaching Stars” Program. Donations can be made to the GDEF in the name of your special educator – parents can donate in honor of the educator who helped your child reach a milestone, students and former students can donate in honor of that special teacher who made a difference, teachers and educators can donate in honor of the colleague who inspires them, or any community member who cares about our children’s education can donate to the program. Donations can be made for any special occasion such as graduation from Elementary School, Middle School or High School, to mark a special performance such as a concert or play, in celebration of a special honor or award your child is receiving or “just because” – to show our educators how we appreciate their commitment to our children’s education. The “Teaching Stars” program will benefit us all because monies donated are available to enhance our children’s education through grants for exciting classrooms programs and professional development. Our educators will appreciate recognition for excellence in their profession. Students will benefit because inspired teachers make inspiring teachers. And we all benefit because better-educated students make our communities and the world a better place! Any donation amount from $5 to $5000 (or more!) will help the GDEF in its mission to enhance the quality of public education in our communities. Upon receipt of your donation a personalized letter of recognition and honor will be sent to your “Teaching Star." The amount of your donation will be confidential and you can also choose to have your donation be anonymous. To honor that special educator, just visit www.gdefinc.org, click on the “Teaching Stars” star, complete the Teaching Stars donor form and return this form and your donation by mail to GDEF at the address provided.
