Media Release Local Area Businesses and Residents Support the GDEF’s Upcoming Dinner, Drama and Dessert! Community residents and businesses are generously supporting the upcoming Groton Dunstable Education Foundation (GDEF) fundraiser, Dinner, Drama and Dessert!, proceeds from which will fund the Fall 2005 grant cycle. This two-night event will feature a community theatre production on Friday, April 29th and Saturday, April 30th at the High School’s Black Box Theatre. Marc Camoletti's hilarious comedy "Don't Dress for Dinner" will be directed by GDRSD drama teacher and Dunstable resident Christina Chadzynski. Jos. Kilbridge Antiques of Groton, longtime supporters of the Ed Foundation, have supplied beautiful antiques to be used on the set, creating “the main living-room of a country house some distance from Paris." Groton residents Levent and Dawn Bozkurt will graciously host a select group of theatre-goers in their awarding-winning Stonehedge Inn prior to the Friday evening performance. Delectable offerings will feature a chef’s selection of savory hors d’oeuvres preceding a delicious two-course dinner of spring greens with crumbled goat cheese and toasted pine nuts, drizzled with Stonehedge’s special vinaigrette, followed by pan-seared free range chicken breast with baby carrot and spring pea risotto, accompanied by morel cream sauce. Wine from the Inn’s award-winning wine cellar will be available for purchase. Ms. Bozkurt says, “We are looking forward to a wonderful evening in support of the GDEF.” Saturday night's performance will be preceded by a concert by the GDRHS band and chorus, featuring the premiere of a new piece of music by composer Sean O'Loughlin commemorating Groton's 350th birthday. This piece of music, Come Listen All, was commissioned by the HS Music Department through a grant from GDEF. (Ticket holders for Friday night may attend the concert only on Saturday evening free of charge.) Following the play on both Friday and Saturday evenings, Ozzie and Rachel Filho, proprietors of Groton’s own Filho's Cucina, will be serving a selection of their gourmet desserts such as chocolate mousse cups, zabaglione-filled chocolate cups, raspberry cheese cake, mini cannolis, petit fours, chocolate-dipped strawberries and more! Ozzie Filho says, “We do what we can do to support our community and schools, without expecting recognition. It is our pleasure to work with the Ed Foundation on this event.” Coffee and tea will accompany these yummy dessert offerings. The proceeds raised from this fundraiser will fund GDEF's Fall 2005 grant cycle. To date, GDEF has awarded 36 grants totaling more than $60,000 - please support the ongoing work of the Groton Dunstable Education Foundation by attending this event! Tickets are on sale now and can be ordered at Jos. Kilbridge Antiques in Groton or the Dunstable Public Library, or by visiting our website at www.gdefinc.org.
