Groton Dunstable Education Foundation

Groton Dunstable Education Foundation Receives Broad Community Support

As the GDEF’s second major fundraiser on October 8th draws nearer, diverse groups from throughout the communities of Groton and Dunstable are rallying to support this second annual gala event. DS Graphics, owned by Justin Pallis of Dunstable, has donated over 3800 invitations again this year. Local area residents and businesses have contributed generously, such as Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union, who is sponsoring a tent, and EXIT Assurance Realty and Indian Hill Music Center who are sponsoring the evening’s music. Other supporters include Belle Feuille Floral Designs, Currier and Chives, Colonial Bakery, Main St. Café, NEBS, Nashoba Publications, Lacombe Septic, Sherburne Lumber, Ken’s American Restaurant and AVID Technology.

The Education Foundation, which was formed as a separate entity to raise funds to support innovative programs for students in the Groton-Dunstable Regional Schools, is not part of the school system. But that hasn’t stopped School District administrators and teachers from strongly supporting the Education Foundation and its second major fundraiser. School administrators and teachers have brainstormed to offer some really wonderful auction items such as a Principal for a day, Superintendent for a day, a stargazing party for 25 courtesy of science teacher Glenn Chaple, seats on the bench for your child and a friend at a varsity basketball game, and an after-school gym session for your child and a group of kids courtesy of elementary school Physical Education teacher Sean Murphy. Many other exciting and interesting items and services from community organizations as well as the more traditional businesses have been donated. For a complete listing check out www.gdefinc.org.

This fun-filled event was sold out last year so tickets are limited and going fast. Go online at www.gdefinc.org and click on Events to purchase your tickets. Invitations will be going home in backpacks with students next week, and will soon be available at all GDRSD schools, Jos. Kilbridge Antiques, the Main Street Café in Groton and the Dunstable Public Library.
