Local business and organizations help our children "Reach for the Stars"

The Groton Dunstable Education Foundation’s first major fundraiser will be held on Friday, October 10th from 6-11:30 p.m. under tents in the meadow at Jos. Kilbridge Antiques, 134 Main Street in Groton.  An elegant evening of hors d’oeuvres, music and dancing is planned around the Antiques Preview Party, Live and Silent Auction, and Dance, the proceeds from which will benefit the newly formed Groton Dunstable Education Foundation.  This event is being presented by the Florence Roche Boutwell Parent Teacher Organization, the Prescott Parent Organization, the Swallow Union Association of Parents and Teachers, the Middle School Parent Organization, the Groton Dunstable High School Students, and the Groton Dunstable Alliance For Youth.

"Local businesses and community organizations have been overwhelmingly supportive,” said GDEF Director of Fundraising Sharon Schmidt of Dunstable.  “Our team of volunteers has been warmly received whether requesting donations for our live and silent auction, in-kind donations such as flowers, print and design, reduced fee structures for catering and rental needs, cash sponsorships or cash donations. We owe a special thanks to our host and sponsor, Jos. Kilbridge Antiques.  Without their help this event could not take place.  In addition, we would like to thank the following donors whose generosity and time have enabled the special elements of the Antique Preview Party, Auction and Dance to be brought to you: Belle Feuille Floral Design, Currier & Chives Catering, DS Graphics, the Groton Antiques Show Antique Dealers at the Antique Preview Party Antique Sale, Ink Etc. Corporation, Indian Hill Music Center Classical Music Trio and the Indian Hill Big Band brought to you by Indian Hill Music Center in conjunction with ERA Morrison Real Estate & Frank DiMaria, Attorney-at-Law, Main Street Café, Milan Design, Ready-to-Run Software, Inc. and TWS Exhibits & Graphics.”

Says Justin Pallis of DS Graphics, who donated the invitations, posters and GDEF stationery, “It’s wonderful to be able to contribute in a real way to helping students of the Groton Dunstable Regional School District achieve beyond the expectations one has of a publicly funded school district facing tough financial times. I also have two young children in the schools that will benefit from the activities of this important organization.  My brother and sister, both of whom live in Dunstable and run the business with me, are very pleased to be able to give back to the community in this way.”
